A handcrafted altar piece built for candle work, threshold symbolism, and intentional ritual space. The darkened finish, layered woodburned texture, violet detailing, and suspended skeleton key charm give this piece a grounded but slightly nocturnal presence suited for altars, meditation spaces, and reflective ritual work.

The Symbolism

Keys appear throughout magical and folkloric traditions as symbols of access, transition, hidden knowledge, and the opening or closing of spiritual thresholds. Paired here with violet tones long associated with intuition, mystery, liminal awareness, and spiritual reflection, the attached charm functions as both visual adornment and symbolic accent to the larger piece.

Form and Structure

Built from a turned wooden candlestick form and extensively textured through freehand woodburning, the body carries layered lines and surface movement throughout. A silver-toned metal grommet lines the candle opening, reinforcing the upper structure while complementing the cooler violet and black finish tones.

Craftsmanship

Hand-burned linework and surface detailing were applied before finishing in a deep dark stain. Layered black shimmer wax and violet metallic detailing were then worked across the surface to create tonal depth and reflective movement that reveals itself when the piece catches the light just right. The attached stretch charm features amethyst, hematite, silver-colored metal accent beads, and a suspended skeleton key charm. The charm may be carefully removed or repositioned if desired, though excessive stretching should be avoided to preserve the integrity of the piece. The entire piece has been sealed to protect the texture and dimensional finish.

Handcrafted and Consecrated

Each piece is individually finished by hand and will naturally carry variation in burn depth, wood grain, stain movement, and metallic detailing. Every piece is ritually blessed before leaving my hands.

• For those wanting to use this holder with candles made by The Burnt Raven, use of sticky wax (also sold by The Burnt Raven) is required to anchor the candle upright in the holder.
• Best suited for intentional ritual or altar use rather than prolonged unattended burning sessions.
• Wax buildup should be removed gently to preserve the finish and detailing.
• Never leave burning candles unattended.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, direct water contact, or extreme heat.
• Wipe gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth as needed.
• Wear over time is expected with natural materials and regular use. This is part of the piece's natural lifecycle.
• Colors may vary slightly from photos due to lighting and natural wood tone, though I do my best to capture each piece as accurately as possible.
