A handcrafted altar piece built for candle work, threshold symbolism, and intentional ritual space. The darkened finish, layered woodburned texture, and suspended skeleton key charm give this piece a grounded, liminal presence that holds its own on any altar.

The Symbolism

Keys appear throughout magical and folkloric traditions as symbols of access, transition, hidden knowledge, and the opening or closing of spiritual thresholds. Paired with larvikite, a stone associated with grounding, perception, and inner awareness, the attached charm functions as both visual adornment and a symbolic accent to the larger piece.

Form and Structure

Built from a turned wooden candlestick form and extensively textured through freehand woodburning, the body carries layered lines and surface movement throughout. A brass grommet lines the candle opening, reinforcing the upper structure while adding a subtle aged metallic accent that complements the dark finish.

Craftsmanship

Hand-burned linework and surface detailing were applied before finishing in a deep dark stain. Black and gold metallic waxes were then layered across the surface to create shifting tonal variation and subtle reflective depth when the piece catches light. The attached stretch charm features larvikite, glass seed beads, gold-colored metal beads, and a suspended skeleton key charm. The charm may be carefully removed or repositioned if desired, though excessive stretching should be avoided to preserve the integrity of the piece. The entire piece has been sealed to protect the texture and dimensional finish.

Handcrafted and Consecrated

Each piece is individually finished by hand and will naturally carry variation in burn depth, wood grain, stain movement, and metallic detailing. Every piece is ritually blessed before leaving my hands.

• Candle not included. The display candle shown in the photos is for presentation purposes only.
• For those wanting to use this holder with candles made by The Burnt Raven, use of sticky wax (also sold by The Burnt Raven) is required to anchor the candle upright in the holder.
• Best suited for intentional ritual or altar use rather than prolonged unattended burning sessions. Wax buildup should be removed gently to preserve the finish and detailing.
• Never leave burning candles unattended.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, direct water contact, or extreme heat.
• Wipe gently with a dry or slightly damp cloth as needed.
• Wear over time is expected with natural materials and regular use. This is part of the piece's natural lifecycle.
