Centered around the Old Irish word idir, meaning "between" or "among," this talisman works within the current of thresholds, crossing points, return, and unresolved movement. Not transition as something temporary, but as a state that can be inhabited intentionally.

This is a piece for those who understand that not every path resolves cleanly, and that there is power in remaining present within the crossing itself.

The Pendant

At the center rests a naturally weathered piece of shoreline-found driftwood, retained for years before finally settling into this piece. Burned into its surface is the word idir rendered in ogham, the early writing system associated with the Irish language and carved here in a historically informed bottom-to-top orientation.

The driftwood itself was intentionally left slender and minimally altered, allowing the natural shaping of tide, pressure, and time to remain visible within the finished work. Nothing about the pendant was designed to appear polished or ornamental. It was built to feel carried, worn, and sea-kept.

Rather than acting as a decorative symbol, the ogham functions as a directional current through the length of the wood itself: a marking of the threshold state this piece was built around.

• Black Crackle Agate: stability through fracture, containment under pressure, and endurance through disruption
• Lava Stone: grounding, depth, primal force, and sustained internal pressure
• Bone: mortality, continuity, and the reminder of what remains after transformation

• Shoreline-Found Driftwood Pendant: shaped by tide, time, and natural erosion before being worked into the talisman

Numerological Structure

Built on a foundation of 5. Within this talisman, five represents liminality, movement, crossing, and the state that exists between fixed points. It reinforces the nature of the threshold itself rather than forcing resolution beyond it.

Care and Notes

Handle with care to preserve the longevity of the cord and beadwork. Because the pendant is natural driftwood and the piece is constructed as beadwork rather than hardware, it should be treated as a handcrafted ritual object rather than a heavy-duty piece.

Wear over time is expected with natural materials. Should the cord eventually give under long-term use, this is considered part of the piece's natural lifecycle. Rebuilding services are available if you would like the piece restrung and returned to working condition.
